HOW KALLA IS MADE

From the temple floor to your home.

Every day, temples, homes, weddings and events gather baskets of flowers offered with real love. Once the prayer is over, almost all of it is thrown out, and a lot of it ends up in our rivers. That never sat right with us. Something given with so much meaning should not end its life as waste.

MEET THE KALLAKARS

The hands behind every stick, cone and candle.

We call our makers Kallakars, from kala, the Hindi word for art—because turning a used flower into something worth keeping is an art in itself. Most learn the craft from women who joined before them.

Chhaya Ben was Kalla’s first. She began as a home helper, working between chores, then joined full time. She brought in her daughter-in-law and other women from the neighbourhood, teaching them to sort, dry and roll flowers. Today, she trains new joiners and runs much of the floor. When we talk about social impact, we point to her.

Is Kalla incense really charcoal-free?

Yes. Our incense is made without charcoal, which is what gives most agarbatti its heavy black smoke. You get a cleaner, softer burn that is easier to light every day.

Are the products actually made from temple flowers?

Much of what we make begins with flower powder from used flowers we collect at temples, homes, weddings and events. Not every product uses it, and we say so on the product page.

How long does one incense stick last?

Most of our sticks burn for around 30 to 45 minutes and keep a room fragrant well after the flame goes out. [Confirm exact burn time before publishing.]

Do you ship across India?

Yes, we ship all over India. Orders have also travelled to the USA, Canada and Australia.

Can I order in bulk or for corporate gifting?

Yes. Tell us the occasion and quantity through the gifting form and we will build a hamper to your budget, usually with a reply within one working day.
