How kalla upcycles flowers
For Kalla’s flower upcycled ritual products, the process begins long before the finished product.
Collect
We rescue flowers from temples, homes & celebrations.
Sort
Every basket is separated by hand, one flower at a time.
Wash
The petals are cleaned with care.
Dry
They are sun dried, or gently dried indoors when the weather turns.
Grind
The dried flowers become a soft, fine powder.
Craft
The powder is hand-finished into incense, dhoop and havan cups.
It Didn’t Start With Incense
Kalla began as a final-year Chemical Engineering project called Begin With Flowers. The idea was to transform used flowers into natural dyes, but when they didn’t perform reliably on synthetic fabrics, the team changed the product—not the purpose. Experimental colours became natural Holi colours, packed by hand at the founder’s grandmother’s house.
A small exhibition followed, featuring agarbattis, soaps, and a few other products. The stall sold out, and what began as an experiment slowly became Kalla. Through every change, Begin With Flowers remained the guiding idea—and eventually, the tagline.
